THE STORY BEHIND
Each piece is carefully crocheted by local women in the Faroe Islands, where knitting and crochet are a natural part of everyday life. It is often something they pick up when they want to relax and enjoy a quiet moment, simply because they love doing it. Some pieces may also be brought along to a traditional “Bindiklubb” — a knitting club among friends, where they meet to have a good chat while knitting and sharing time together. It may travel between different islands and be worked on while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, among rugged cliffs, or by a window with ever-changing views of sea and sky. When the weather allows, it can even be made outdoors, carried through calm days or wind and shifting skies.
With experience, many knit so naturally they hardly need to look at their hands. Each piece is made slowly and with care, always in a peaceful rhythm and with a sense of calm, good energy. This gentle movement across the islands and moments of everyday life gives every collar a quiet sense of place, making each one truly unique.
