DETAILS
Ásla is an open hand-knitted cardigan with a wrap silhouette and adjustable waist tie, inspired by a classic design from the 1970s. A traditional Faroese knitting pattern encircles the waist, adding a distinctive detail rooted in more than a century of knitting heritage. Please note: As the pattern is knitted using available leftover yarn, the colours may vary slightly from piece to piece, making every cardigan one of a kind.

MATERIALS
Made from 90% Faroese wool and 10% leftover yarn.

COLOUR
Light brown with patterned details created from leftover yarn. As the pattern is knitted using available leftover yarn, the colours may vary slightly.

SIZE & FIT
Available in Size 1 (XS–S), Size 2 (M), Size 3 (L–XL). Adjustable wrap design with a tie at the waist. Naturally breathable, warm, and durable. Hand-knitted, so slight variations may occur while remaining true to the overall fit.

WAYS TO WEAR
Style with denim and a fitted T-shirt for an effortless everyday look, or wear over shirts and tailored trousers for a more refined expression.

DELIVERY TIME
Made to order means the piece is carefully crafted after your purchase if it is not in stock. This process may involve a production period of approximately 2–5 weeks.

SUSTAINABILITY
Made to order helps reduce overproduction and waste, supporting a more mindful approach to production. Made to remain a valued part of your wardrobe for years.

The patterned details are created using leftover yarn, giving high-quality fibres a new purpose instead of letting them go to waste. Because the colours depend on available leftover yarn, slight variations may occur from piece to piece. This thoughtful approach reduces waste while ensuring every cardigan carries its own unique character.

THE STORY BEHIND
Ásla is created through knitting, a craft deeply rooted in everyday life in the Faroe Islands. Each piece is made slowly and with care by local women, often in traditional “Bindiklubb” knitting groups where friends meet, talk, and create together. Work may continue while overlooking the Atlantic Ocean or moving between islands, carried through fresh air, changing weather, and calm natural surroundings, and in quieter moments it is often worked on outdoors or in peaceful places close to nature.

With experience, many create almost without looking, guided by rhythm and memory, and each piece carries this calm pace of making, giving it a subtle sense of place and individuality shaped by time, care, and craft.
